View Full Version : Favourite archiver?
What's your favourite archiver?
I prefer WinRAR and the awesome 7-Zip for most archiving purposes. Others include WinZip, WinUHA (Uharc), and DZip.
Recommended Archivers:

BTW Here's a perfectly legit FREE version of WinRAR for people who don't already have it installed. Its not the very latest version, and I'm not sure just how compatible it is with Vista, but it works perfectly under XP.
ENJOY! :smile1:

sorry if I sound a bit silly, but what kind of stuff would you archive? Ive never used an archiver, but I dont keep much on my pc tbh:conf (13):
Hi danni,
You can archive most files to save space on your hard drive, flash drives, writable CD's, and other media. Compress documents, pictures, and other sensitive files etc. Archives can also be useful for protecting your personal files by making them password protected.

thanks I'll have a look at that winrar, I think its on my pc :smile1:
You're Welcome! :smile1:
WinRAR is a good place to start if you have never used an archiver before. I recommend you use 'BEST' compression and 'SOLID' archive settings for most files. These settings will give highest (smallest archives) compression for most files. Be aware thought, that higher compression will result in more time being taken to compress files. Use lower compression settings for very large files if you don't want to wait.
