Dont remember if I asked you all this....but your gonna get asked again !!!!:bleh: I'll condense it, dont want to bore you with big details. My car threw a wobbler at the end of last year...took it to one place to be fettled and all they ended up doing was cause more damage......took it to another service place who finally got the other joints botch up fixed and found even more problems they had caused..finally got my motor back on june 16....so was without my wheels for almost 7 months. My total bill was over $2300 ( about 1300 quid ).The first place are avoiding us like the plague...I have all the papers from both places so...#1..should I sue? and #2 IYHO whats my chances of being refunded the $$$$$?

Contacted them through letter and phone call in April...the smart a**e owner told me over phone that (quote )" If I had so much trouble with the da*n car I'd just buy a new one" I used the BBB here who act as mediators between company and customer...the first place refused to reply to those guys...TWICE!!

seriously you entered into a contract with them to do a specific job which they didnt do so they are in breach of contract. I dont know how the law works over there, but you must have a good case for a refund and compensation :wave1:

they should give them a time limit to respond to your complaint its usually 14 days over here. Hopefully they will see sense and avoid a judgement against them :wave1:

There always is, and always will be (just like giving up smoking). You just have to take the plunge. I had a brand new mortgage when I made the change, gave 12 months notice, had another tour of NI coming up, didnt have another job to go to, but hey, its life, you only get one go at it )

Is this a good guess at what you do or could do ?: -

"duties: ensuring compliance in financial and regulatory reporting. Analysing and proposing changes to reporting requirements. Embedding changes arising from the move to IFRS in divisional reporting. Reviewing regulatory and financial accounting returns. Preparing technical accounting and regulatory papers. Working with finance teams across the division"

12 months of that should set you up nice, especialy if you structure yourself (finacilay) properly. I estimate, at £56 ph, over 48 weeks, after tax (and some legal tax avoidance :nono::big_smile:) your 'take home' would be £84,672

I have got a tale about me and a dispute I had with a garage over some work which was done on me car, what happened was that I took my car in to the garage to have a new oil pump fitted, whilst doing this work they said that there was a fault with the ignition system which needed an expensive replacement part, this I thought was strange because I have always been quite clued up on cars and such like and the car had been running fine when I took it to the garage, so when I got the car back from them I checked the ignition system and no new part had been fitted, I had been ripped off and ripped off fine style, theft would have been a better way to describe what that garage {TRIED} to do to me.

Luckily I had paid by cheque, so I stopped the cheque and went to see my solicitor to find out were I stood legally because the garage had replaced the oil pump to my satisfaction, it was the ignition system part which I disputed.

My solicitor said that what the garage had done wrong came under the “misrepresentation” laws because when you take your car to a garage to have it repaired the garage is acting on your behalf to repair the car, they are "representing" you by being your “agent” and if they do this wrong they have "misrepresented" you, in my case the solicitor said that I definitely owed them for the price of the oil pump part, but it was open to interpretation whether I owed them for fitting it to the car, otherwise known as the labour charge, in my case my solicitor wrote to the garage saying that I was only prepared to pay for the oil pump part and I never heard anything from them, so I ended up getting a free and fitted oil pump

Well there are a lot of cowboys out there and a few Clowns and on about a Clown, Bongo cannot change a wheel on his car in cold weather because he has a circulation problem in his fingers and if the wheel brace and jack are “cold” he cannot touch them because his fingers go cold and painful and last time this happened he drove a mile and a half on a flat tyre to a friends house who changed the wheel for him and when he took the tyre to be repaired the chap at the tyre place looked at him in disbelief and said “how do you expect me to repair THAT” and Bongo thinks he was ripped off because he had to have a new tyre fitted to the rim, I bet there was hardly anything left of that tyre after running on it flat for so long
