I have been following this story on other forums and I think its a crying shame that Wigan Council are trying to throw this old chap out of his home.

How the heck can they justify demolishing a 300 year old house that hasn't had any structural surveys????? If they said they were demolishing MY house, I'd probably jump for joy but enough history has been destroyed in the name of "progress"!!:ablow::ablow:

reading on WW they have had English Heritage round and they are doing a report to try and get it listed and some of the members on there have said they will picket if the council attempt to demolish the cottage :smile1::wave1:

Remember Again...............this is the council that the majority of the miserly 22% turnout at the latest local elections voted for.
Just remember that.

78% of Wigan voters sat on the couch (or whatever) and didnt bother to vote out this set of hypocrites.

A lot of the 78% of non voters have a lot to say against this council.

Far to many of Wigan's old houses have fell in the name of "progress".. Dowager House Farm for one, again lots of back handers went here and there, and that was a listed building.
