this is the pathway at the side of Progress and Unity House that leads to the small canal bridge where Bernard took some of his pictures. It used to be the old wagon road for Westwood Power Station

This is a clip from a 1969 map of Wigan, which shows the roads around Poolstock, the wagon road I presume is where wagons delivered coal to Westwood Power Station, although coal barges transported coal by canal to the power station, this stopped in 1972 and from then on coal was delivered by road.

Those are nice pictures only thing which spoils them is the litter in the canal :sad1:


Most of the litter comes from Bithells scrap yard and the stink walking past there is awful :sad1::sad1:
